Sushi In The Raw in Nevada City

We had waited a long time to try Sushi in the Raw. The quality was good and service was excellent. I had heard a lot about this place and maybe my expectations were too high.The truffle oil fish was different and quite good.

The food is consistently well prepared and tasty, workers hands over fantastic service. I really like the cleanliness and mood. Highly recommended.

Enough has been written about Sushi In the Raw but in case you haven't heard this is some of the tastiest, freshest, most amazing sushi... and it's here in Nevada City! Add in a wonderful staff and you will have a dinner to remember!

Best sushi I have ever had. Krazy Milk is good and I recommend doing the octopus shooter.

I love this place, best sushi around the area for sure!They have good vegetarian options.The only inconvenient it’s that the place is quite small and to get a table you need to make reservations in advance.

I treasure Sushi in the Raw. Extremely delicious every time. Just make reservations well in advance. I enjoy the atmosphere and the cozy scale of the space.

TWO hours for a bar seat, no one serves all you can eat! California is next to the ocean! Reno NV is so much better!

The absolute best sushi bar I've been to ever! Each bite is melt in your mouth delicious, and the chef has his own sauces and combinations that just dance in your mouth, oh such an orgasmic experience every time I go.

Excellent sashimi. Superior service. Highly recommend the drunken shooter, nice balance of heat and acidity. Also the truffle sashimi was even better than expected. Sit at the sushi bar if you can. Great company and conversation!

Seems like a place for hairy women and the men who like them. The service is horrible, if you are (un)lucky enough to get a seat. If you showered the week you plan on eating here, expect rude looks and an unwelcoming atmosphere

Sushi in the Raw delivers masterfully crafted dishes with excellent service. Every dish is unique and finds a way to perfectly mix a broad range of tastes. The presentation and class of their items are unmatched by any sushi restaurant I have been to. Be prepared to throw down if you want the full experience and make sure to book your reservation ahead of time.

Service was severely lacking, Half my order was forgotten. This used to be my favorite place in town but it's gone downhill secerly. In the future I'd go elsewhere.

It might be hard to believe, but this is the best Sushi in Northern California, if not California. The only problem I have is the wait to get in.....but it's worth the wait!

Sushi Shooters.... get at least one of all of them! The gold sake in the box!!!!! Truffle oil sashimi!! The cucumber stuffed with sashimi!!!! The cabbage salad!!!! Even the simple miso soup is outstanding!!! Hands down the best sushi & Japanese food I’ve had the pleasure of enjoying!!! Get a seat at the bar, come hungry and enjoy it all!!!! We’ve ate here twice now and but times EVERY SINGLE THING was PHENOMENAL!!! Do be in a hurry though because nothing here is rushed! Bring your wallet or two!$$$ But it’s worth every penny!!!

Very good sushi. Fun place to have dinner out with friends and/or family. All the standard fare with some local rolls unique to Sushi in the Raw.

You will need to plan a head but there is a solid reason for this!!! What a fantastic place in such a small town, Rue has worked at a few places in Auburn area over the last 20 years but after he left they are nolonger worth visiting. Sushi in the Raw is his place allowing full creative control and it shows.

Absolutely bonkers good. Be sure to make a reservation. Trout shooters! Quail egg shooters! Truffle sashimi! Fire Ball!...highlights. Thanks to Chef Ru and Susan for a fantastic and unforgetable culinary experience.

if you want the best sushi come here be prepared to want to order everything on the menu and spend 100 to 200 dollars!

Fantastic place. Was surprised to find such high quality and authentic sushi in Nevada City, but what a delight! The staff was amazing too. The ambience is cozy, homey and chill (unlike some very 'serious' sushi places), with lots of charming Japanese decorations.

Always fabulous

This out favorite sushi place! The servers are alot of fun and the owner is great! It is amazing what they can do in such a tiny kitchen. The truffled sushi is always a must get and we always bottom out on shooters. Get adventurous and try the qual egg shooter. the fish head is great to share and always try the special:) the bar is the place to sit at, come early and camp put on the porch to put your name up on the board.

My wife and I take quarterly trips to Nevada City every year. The sushi here is hands down the best. Reservations are a must. Well worth it!

High quality deliciousness!

I've been wanting to try this place for a really long time! It was our anniversary so we took our chance and unplanned decided to go. Thank goodness there was a cancellation because we got in! It was so so good! The service was over-the-top! Very friendly staff and sociable. They constantly filled our drinks to the top and gave us excellent table service! If you like sushi I recommend this place! But if you want to definitely go here I definitely recommend a reservation. We just got lucky! :-)

Small but cozy. The fish is simply the freshest, highest quality fish I have ever had. You need to make a reservation. The service was also excellent 💓 Can be pricey but well worth it.

The best restaurant in all the world!

This place is insane. I also don't want to write a review because I don't want it to be more popular than it is but I LOVE this place. I've been lucky to have sushi from top restaurants in NYC, LA and SF, and this place stands up to anyone of them. A wonderful treat here in Nevada City.

Never been able to eat there. I was there on June 23rd 2018 and reservations only. The hostess said that the bar was first come first serve and there was 7 chairs open. We walked in with 3 other people and the hostess says that the 3 people were waiting for 4 others and that we couldn't be seated. So much for first come first serve. I was very upset especially when she just told me it was first come first serve and that the 7 seats were now reserved. I will never go back. I guess my wife didn't have hairy armpits and I didn't have dreadlocks or smell like petruli oil was the problem. So if you want to get seated there don't take a shower for a month and you won't have any problems

My all time favorite sushi restaurant. Must get the quake egg shooters! One of the only reasons I go back to visit my home town.

This is next level sushi. I've dined at some of the best sushi restaurants up and down California from San Diego to San Francisco. Sushi in the Raw is for real fish lovers. This is where you go for some of the finest grade sashimi on the west coast. The chef will close if the fish quality isn't high enough. Divine! Order a quail egg shooter...
